Slopness 3/11 – 3/20: SXSW gets bigger and bigger every year….Which means more lines, odd characters and drinking. We were armed with no wristband or badge, no real plans and a HD video camera. We spent the beginning of the week (during the film festival) putting slopness posters all over town, it was interesting to see how they fared as the music festival approached, whether being torn down, stolen or plastered with other stuff…But putting posters up in the Texas heat sucks after a while, so we just started drinking…A lot. Of course we weren’t the only ones, a stroll down 6th or red river and you could see most people were not sober. Especially with the amount of free alcohol at SXSW, combine that with all the sloppy food and you need a solid 5 days of detox. We threw a couple of showcases and gave away as much free stuff as we could. Lines for the cool free shows were terrible so we just walked around, found free booze and food, caught random free shows, handed out free posters and shot footage. Our surprise acts for SXSW were Sore Losers and Damaged Good$, both put on great shows. We also caught an awesome DJ set by Matt and Kim , saw The Cool Kids at fader fort and watch De La Soul from the rooftop of speakeasy. We have fully detoxed from the blatant abuse to our bodies and have a ridiculous amount of footage, so after we sort through it all, we’ll try to put together a video…
